Annette O'Toole was raised in Houston in Texas, at her mom's dance studio. She made her television debut in the age of two when she was a child on The Don Mahoney Kiddie Trooper show. After ten years in dancing and singing lessons with her mom and sister, she headed on a journey to L.A. to try and determine if a show-business career could be a possibility. Within two months she was offered her first work: dancing alongside Danny Kaye on The Danny Kaye Show. She has made use of her singing and dancing abilities in a variety of ways. O'Toole is a regular on more than 40 shows on television. Although she is famous both in television and film her passion lies in theater. After her run of six years on Smallville came to an end, she chose to concentrate on theatre, which she has been doing for the last ten years. Following her move into New York, she had her first appearance on Broadway in The Sea Gull. She has appeared in several Off-Broadway shows, including Adam Rapp's Kindness Tracy Letts' Man from Nebraska as well as Tennessee Williams' A Lovely Sunday for Creve Couer.
